Your safety is our primary concern. Pilots go through rigorous testing and re-testing throughout their career. Aircrafts are maintained on strict FAA inspection protocols every 100 hours of flight and annually. Any and all potential maintenance issues (squawks) are addressed prior to flight.
According to the NSC (National Safety Council), air travel is much safer than car travel.
Our ‘chariot’ will be the Diamond DA-40, a four seater, well known as the industry leader for safety, efficiency & dependability among general aviation aircrafts on the market today! Possessing a state of the art modern day 'glass cockpit', autopilot and luxurious cockpit & cabin comforts, its feel and look have been compared to a European sports car!
It will depend on the tour selected, however, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Pulaski/Dublin and the surrounding areas are the most commonly seen. Our flight cruising altitude will be between 4500-5500 feet. Our speed will be between 120-130mph.

Yes, there is a maximum gross weight restriction (400lbs total for passengers). We will ask your estimated weight during your initial signup (don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone! 😉). Weight and balance considerations are a primary component for safe flying and are calculated prior to takeoff. Seating arrangements will be determined at that time. No worries! The DA-40's canopy style cockpit offers excellent views from all seats!
We will not fly in adverse weather conditions: for example if it’s raining, snowing, low visibility, fog or low cloud ceilings. Your pilot's number one concern is your safety. They are trained in weather management protocols to make a go-no go decision. We will be flying in visual conditions which has legal limitations. The presence of clouds does not preclude flying, however the air around them may be a bit bumpy (turbulent). We will not fly into one. Smooth air is ideal, however, even on a clear day, we may encounter some turbulence. If we cancel because of weather concerns, no worries! A full refund will be issued
Well, although unlikely as we keep our turns shallow & smooth, accommodations are made for just such a occurrence (you will receive your own personalized barf bag)! We will teach you techniques to minimize your chances of airsickness. If you are suffering from a cold, sinus or ear problems, have had surgery in the past month or are pregnant, best to reschedule flight. Remember, small meals an hour before flight. In any event, it’s easy to return to our starting point and get feet back on terra forma! 😉
